Finding Time for Health
Do you think you are too busy to lead a healthy life? This is a common reason given by people who simply can not change their lives. I’ve got news for you – even if your schedule is packed full, you still have time to be healthy.
One of the best things you can do for yourself is to drink enough water. Benefits of drinking water is widespread and includes the repair of your skin, digestive, and circulatory system and aids in weight loss. Drinking more water is especially important if you use it to replace sugary drinks throughout the day. If you have a desk job, be sure to have a bottle of water sitting in front of you at all times. You will be surprised at how much you drink when it’s sitting there.
Replace high-sugar foods with low sugar version. Thus, you will reduce calories and weight. Do you suffer from deterioration of energy throughout the day? Most of the time is derived from sugar withdrawal. If you consume less sugar during the day your body will get used to it and a lack of energy will be lost.
Stock up on healthy snacks. When you are running short on time and get hungry you tend to grab whatever is fast and available. If you plan ahead and buy snacks such as carrots, almonds, yogurt, peanut butter or fruit you will be able to avoid a situation where there are no healthy choices.
Plan your meals before the week begins. For most people a Sunday afternoon or night will work well for this. Decide what you would have for lunch and dinner every night, and then take the time to shop for and prepare their meals in advance. This way you do not need to resort to takeout China simply because there is no longer available.
Double all the recipes you make, especially when you are cooking on the weekends. By freezing your second meal will always have a backup in your freezer when you are short of time.
Running at every opportunity you have. It is not difficult to park further away from the store entrance, take the stairs instead of elevators, or get up from your desk for five minutes and walk around the office. You could even go as far as walking into someone else’s desk rather than email them. If you should meet with someone to discuss something quickly, ask them for a short walk with you while you do it. This small amount of exercise during the day can really add.
Get enough sleep. I know you think that if you already do not have time to sleep how you will find more time? Many people underestimate the value of a deep sleep. By cutting down on your bed to get more things done you sacrifice the value of your work. Lack of sleep also makes you more susceptible to disease and you certainly do not have time to get sick. By getting enough sleep each night you will be much more efficient during the time you are awake.
At the very least, try one of these suggestions once a week. By starting small you will be able to achieve a healthy life without being overwhelmed.
