Can Eating the Right Type of Fat Improve Your Health
Many of us do not realize the different types of fats and what they do for our bodies. While most people associate the word fat with being overweight, a term that actually defines a group of special molecules that is really important to our health.
Fat is broken down into three families: saturated, mono-unsaturated, and poly-unsaturated. Poly-unsaturated further broken down into omega 3 and omega 6. Our bodies take advantage of all the fat in different places. For example, poly-unsaturated are usually used by the body that has the highest activity, such as brain and eyes. So the next question you might ask yourself is what the bad fats and how they added to our food?
Basically, unless fat is intact, natural and unprocessed, it is considered bad. Good fats lose their health benefits when they are damaged by manufacturing companies through the use of heat, light, or oxygen. One example is the partial hydrogenation, a process that gives the oil longer shelf life. High heat and chemicals damage the natural molecule and creates trans fats are harmful to human body. Basically, no amount of unhealthy trans fats. And since most of the food we eat today has been processed, we get more unhealthy molecules into our system. If we do not get enough good fats into our diet, our bodies will eventually use the bad trans fats to maintain itself. This can cause many health problems, ranging anywhere from heart disease to cancer. Therefore, it is important to eat good fats. Just make sure that your diet consists of natural foods, processed and a whole lot. By eating a good molecule, you will not only feel better, but you also will help your body fight disease.
